Russia stocks lower at close of trade; MOEX Russia Index down 0.43%

Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mining, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index lost 0.43%.

The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were Gazprom PJSC (MCX:GAZP), which rose 1.63% or 1.95 points to trade at 121.70 at the close. Meanwhile, PhosAgro PJSC (MCX:PHOR) added 1.49% or 94.00 points to end at 6,391.00 and AK ALROSA PJSC (MCX:ALRS) was up 1.28% or 0.67 points to 52.97 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank PAO (MCX:CBOM), which fell 7.61% or 0.78 points to trade at 9.47 at the close. PIK SHb PJSC (MCX:PIKK) declined 5.77% or 27.20 points to end at 444.10 and OK Rusal MKPAO (MCX:RUAL) was down 4.99% or 1.68 points to 32.02.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 174 to 67 and 12 ended unchanged.

The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was up 0.89% to 43.06.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.20% or 5.30 to $2,633.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.33% or 0.92 to hit $70.16 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.24% or 0.90 to trade at $73.22 a barrel.

USD/RUB was down 1.22% to 99.98, while EUR/RUB fell 1.25% to 104.00.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 108.00.
